Saturday we planned to get up in the morning as usual and work on building a trap door to cover the gaping hole in our tree house floor. I thought that it would take more than an hour or so. Surely we’d be done by lunch…but like everything else it took longer than expected
The boards weren’t quite the right length, it didn’t quite fit in the hole, but finally it was installed.
We celebrated by having lunch as a family up in the tree house.
Our safety consultant (my wife), also suggested that I add some additional braces to part that is cantilevered over the end of the tree. It seemed to shake a little bit.
I almost put it off, but she convinced me that it would be best to just do it and get it over with. So I added the braces as well.
And then we were done.
And that is a good feeling, a very good feeling.

Congratulations! If I ever get around to building one for my kids, I’ll be in touch…
