I wrote several haiku poems this week at work–kind of a flavor of the week.
(BTW my poems take the form of 7-5-7 most of the time. After reading the definition on the link above it seems that they’re supposed to be 5-7-5. Doh! Can’t even do it right! Oh, well.)
Long meeting, attention drifts.

Budget Reboot
I figured that since I was leading a life group on Finances, I ought to take a good look at ours and make sure everything added up (literally).
I’ve prescribed to the envelope budgeting system over the years, using “virtual envelopes” in a computer rather than real ones, but there haven’t been many (any) good tools [...]

It’s Simon, of Course
The answer from my previous post is:
Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings
And here’s another page that gives more details about it.

Happy Weekend!
After a frustrating week at work, my wife and boys surprised me with a rousing chorus of “Happy Weekend to You!” (sung to the tune of Happy Birthday, of course). It was followed up with a Chocolate Wet Cake, with candles and all.
You may not understand, but a Chocolate Wet Cake is my favorite cake [...]

DST…yahoo!
Just for the record, after all the whining about daylight savings time, I’d like to say:
I love Daylight Savings Time!
I love having those extra daylight hours in the evening. I like that it is still light when I get out of work. I can play catch with the boys, or kick around a soccer [...]

Playing Hooky from Church
My wife wasn’t scheduled for prayer team, and I wasn’t scheduled for either worship team or running the sound board. So we decided to stay home from church, and have church at home, instead.
We sang several worship songs and “acted out” the passage in Daniel 6 where Daniel is thrown into the lion’s den, by [...]

‘Expert’ Opinion
After this previous post that I wrote on being an ‘expert’, I saw this post by Juice.
He says about the “Cult of the Expert”:
It is a trend toward silencing others through the intimidating using of the word “expert” (or the implication thereof).
Of course, though, in his case it is the ‘expert’ taken to an extreme. [...]
