…in the minds of my boys. They’re reading a book about the adventures of Robin Hood in homeschool this week. (We’re doing World History and their up to the middle ages.) I got to read a chapter to them last night and the stories are very exciting:
Robin was being pursued by the Sheriff of Nottingham and gets pinned down in the house of a friend. Then they set the house on fire. As he escapes the burning house, the Sheriff’s men surround him and he is faced with certain capture….Until a mysterious black knight comes out of the darkness and rescues Robin. Stay tuned to find out what happens next!
Ok, maybe a bit corny to me, but it captures their imagination and provides a masculine image of bravery and chivalry. Too often, I think, kids are faced with the likes of Sponge Bob Square Pants. Side by side, they just don’t match up.
Why do you think Robin Hood is still around?
